These different forms of water features have different properties and energies, and the applicable shooting methods are different. Today we will introduce them one by one.
No matter what kind of water scene you are shooting, you must avoid the water source when changing or retracting the lens to prevent water droplets from entering the seabird camera and causing a short circuit.
Especially when shooting at the beach, sea water contains a lot of salt, once it enters the camera, it will cause severe corrosion.
How to shoot various seascapes?
Human beings always have an inexplicable yearning for the sea. Among all the forms of the waterscape, it has the most beautiful face and the most exciting traveler's passion for shooting.
But we always hear such complaints: the sea is vast, and the wind is no bright spot; there are too many tourists, and the scenery can not avoid the messy background; the marine life is difficult to access, and the animal photos cannot be clearly focused.
These common shooting difficulties often lead to the exhaustion of the original high mood, and even affect the subsequent travel mood.
In fact, in the marine scene, each of the above three themes have their own shooting tips, the key is how to make good use of them after entering the specific shooting environment.
How to show the vastness of the sea?
Photography enthusiasts have a problem. Once in the beautiful area, the right index finger wants to pinch the camera's shutter. But if you want to turn the beauty into a beautiful picture, you also need to do the most important part of the photography concept: identify the only theme and express it clearly.
As the saying goes, "Oh, the sea, you are all water." But it is not easy to show the theme of this "a large piece of water" in the picture, but it is not simple.
Imagine that if you use ordinary viewing angles for framing, the camera is located in front of the human eye and can be no more than two meters from the ground. Connect this point to the horizon and the angle with the sea surface will not exceed 5 °. With such a small depression angle, the photographed sea surface will only appear as a short "kelp", and there will be no sense of vastness at all.
Therefore, the most effective way to show the wide surface of the sea in the picture is to climb up and shoot with a larger depression.
When composing the composition, I placed the coastline on the right edge of the picture to increase the layeredness of the picture, and placed the sea level line on the upper 1/3 of the picture, so that the sea surface occupied nearly 60% of the remaining area of the picture, and its extent Fully expressed. Don't be afraid that the left side of the screen will look empty, the presence of fishing boats will naturally balance the center of gravity of the screen.
If there is no high shore, you can only view from the perspective of the sea level. You can use a nearby iconic building or reef as the main body to conceive the picture.
Capturing characters and customs on the shore
Traveling by the sea, if you want to take interesting pictures, but do not want other tourists to interfere with the picture, you need to use two differences again: use the space difference to create a clean background picture, look for the time when people are scarce through time difference.
On the Black Sea, the ground is not covered with soft sand, but with round pebbles. A man changed his swimsuit and walked towards the sea. His gait was a little funny because the stones on the ground were lame.
In order to shield other tourists, I shot from the side and rear so that the background in the picture only included a clean sea surface. I lowered the perspective of the camera and used the stacked rocky beaches on the ground as the foreground to increase the layered sense of the picture on the one hand and explain the natural environment here.
In the early morning, there are few people on the seashore, which is a good opportunity to fight "time difference". This lady drove a yellow car and came to the blue sea. Sitting under a red parasol, she could not help wondering whether it was intentional or a coincidence that you put these three primary colors together. ? When shooting, I stepped back a bit and used a 70mm telephoto for framing, so that the captured picture was more processed and the atmosphere was quieter.
Traveling by the sea, the most common animal is the number of seabirds. However, they are not tourists, they need to keep searching for food, so they will climb, dive, and turn on the sea. To get their figures into the picture clearly, you need to use a few tricks.
First, wait for them to land before shooting. At this time, the sea bird retracted its wings and could not take a dynamic picture, which needs to be compensated with a story. For example, in the picture above, there are several seabirds parked on a large reef, and the rest are looking to the left. There is only one guy, flapping his wings, and looking at his friends. As if asking: "Will you walk?" The answer you got is: "Wait, wait."
If you want to shoot a flying seabird, you should set the focus mode of the HD action sports camera to multiple continuous focus and turn on high-speed continuous shooting. Choose a sea bird that may fly to you, point the camera at it, and wait patiently. Once it is near, press and hold the shutter until it flies far away. Don't regret the shutter, the movement of the seabird is too agile, and only using high-speed continuous shooting can ensure that you get the correct exposure and clear picture.
In addition to seabirds, there are many wonderful creatures in the ocean. They hide on the sea floor during the day, and even when we dive into the water, we can't shoot clearly.
The sea water receded at night, leaving them in puddles in the cracks of the reef. Going to the beach at this time, it is easy to shoot them. In this "night view" scene, because the environment is dark, it is best to bring a flashlight that can adjust the brightness to provide a continuous light source for convenient shooting.
This green sea urchin is covered with orange-red spines, which is effective as a warning color and a good subject. I asked my friend to light it with a flashlight. Because the water surface is refracted, I need to debug a few more times to find the best light angle. Then view it obliquely from the top and show the most characteristic side of its shape in the picture.
This is just a six-gill manatee, also known as the red sea hare, which is a hermaphrodite naked gill. They live in the offshore zone and only eat a few specific sponges, so they are rarely kept and are considered very unusual marine life. I asked my friends to set the flashlight to low light mode, brighten its body from a vertical direction, and use telephoto to shoot. The whole picture gives the illusion of diving into the underwater world.
